Home styling is a marketing technique where a property is styled with carefully selected furniture and fittings with the aim of selling it as quickly as possible at the best achievable price. For potential purchasers the first impression is everything. So the property on offer must give a warm, cosy but neutral impression, so that potential purchasers immediately see it as a place they could call home.

- Potential purchasers find it difficult to gain a proper impression of the size of unfurnished rooms. You only get a clear idea of the space available in a house when the furniture is in place.
- When the property is unfurnished purchasers tend to turn a critical gaze on the level of finish. Dirty marks, cobwebs, loose skirting boards, unattractive features like that become far more noticeable.
- A vacant property can seem very cold and lacking in atmosphere. There's a lot of emotion tied up in the purchase of a home, purchasers need to get a good feeling from the property. An empty house can seem cold and bare, not easy to fall in love with.
