EPC: what is it and what will change in 2022?

Do you want to offer your house, apartment or studio for sale or for rent? Then you must have a valid energy performance certificate (EPC). You can read in detail what that means in one of our previous articles by clicking here.

But what will now change in 2022? From 1/1/2022, only the EPCs that were drawn up from 1/1/219 will be eligible for sale! Then the EPC was given a new look and it got a letter label from A + to F and a new content. The intention of this new EPC was and still is to encourage owners to undertake a thorough energetic renovation. This was insufficiently done in the old EPC.

An EPC is normally valid for 10 years, but due to this new obligation you must renew an EPC that was drawn up before 2019 and that was still valid. Important to know: this obligation does not apply to rental, but only to sale!
