What does an asbestos certificate on sale of home mean?

As of November 2022, an asbestos certificate when selling a home will be mandatory for homes older than 2001. This has been decided by the Flemish government.

In this certificate the expert will make an inventory of all places/materials where asbestos is present and what the condition of these is. An asbestos certificate when selling a house also gives tips on how to remove the asbestos safely and a deadline is imposed by which the asbestos should be removed. A certificate showing that there is no asbestos is a blank asbestos inventory. As of November 2022, an asbestos certificate on sale of home is mandatory for homes older than 2001 and as of 2032 for any home.
