What does an asbestos control house involve?

An asbestos home inspection is carried out by a certified OVAM asbestos expert. They must come and inspect the house on site, according to the rules described in the standard OVAM inspection protocol. The expert must then report all findings via an OVAM web application. Afterwards, an asbestos control certificate, a valid asbestos certificate, can be issued.

There are 2 types of asbestos control house:

- a non-destructive asbestos control house: this control only reports findings that can be determined by sight (nothing is exposed in the house)

- a destructive asbestos control on the house: during this control, not only what can be determined by sight is reported, but certain things are also exposed in the house to detect asbestos.

In case of an asbestos control house, it is only mandatory to have a non-destructive inspection performed.
