Do you find it difficult to decorate your home? With the rule of three, you can turn your house into a cosy home.
Everything revolves around finding the right balance. Although it may seem contradictory, the rule of three could actually be called the rule of odd. So it is best to always place an odd number of accessories together. For example, a cluster of 3, 5 or 7. Here are a few tips:
1. Vary the heights. The fireplace, coffee table, dining table and side table are ideal places to experiment with accessories of different heights.
2. Combine different textures. Besides grouping objects of different sizes, it also works well to place different materials together. The diversity of materials creates depth and cosiness.
3. Mix with shapes. This breaks up lines and creates a nice dynamic.
4. Determine a colour palette of 3 colours (e.g. 2 neutral and 1 colourful) and let them reappear in different rooms.
